Quranic text · Tanzil Uthmani 1.1How translators rendered it
Translation · 5 editionsThese translations render verse 7:147 — the whole verse this word appears in — not this word alone. The correspondence is verse-level: no word-level alignment of translations exists for these editions, so we do not claim which English word renders this Arabic word. Compare the editions →
Those who deny Our revelations and the meeting of the Hereafter—their deeds will come to nothing. Will they be repaid except according to what they used to doThose who deny Our revelations and the meeting of the Hereafter, their works are fruitless. Are they requited aught save what they used to doVain will be the works of those who treated our signs, and the meeting of the life to come, as lies! Shall they be rewarded but as they have wroughtBut those who say our signs and the meeting of the last day are lies,-- vain are their works: shall they be rewarded save for that which they have doneand those who they called false by our signs and meeting of the last he came to nothing their deeds is it that are repayed except what they were they doGenerated from a table of word-by-word decisions, not written as prose. Arabic word order is preserved, so it reads stiffly and is not a substitute for a translation written by a person. Every verse is rendered, but the whole remains under review: words marked as judgement rest on weaker evidence than the rest and are flagged in place. No tafsir, hadith or existing translation was consulted.
