Translation · 5 editionsThese translations render verse 39:17 — the whole verse this word appears in — not this word alone. The correspondence is verse-level: no word-level alignment of translations exists for these editions, so we do not claim which English word renders this Arabic word. Compare the editions →
As for those who avoid the worship of idols, and devote themselves to God—theirs is the good news. So give good news to My servantsAnd those who put away false gods lest they should worship them and turn to Allah in repentance, for them there are glad tidings. Therefor give good tidings (O Muhammad) to My bondmenBut good tidings are there for those who shun the worship of Thagout and are turned to God. Cheer then with good tidings those my servantsBut those who avoid Taghut and serve them not, but turn repentant unto God, for them shall be glad tidings. Then give glad tidings to my servantsand those who they avoided the overreacher that they serve and they turned in devotion to Allah for them the good news give good news my servantsGenerated from a table of word-by-word decisions, not written as prose. Arabic word order is preserved, so it reads stiffly and is not a substitute for a translation written by a person. Every verse is rendered, but the whole remains under review: words marked as judgement rest on weaker evidence than the rest and are flagged in place. No tafsir, hadith or existing translation was consulted.
