Translation · 5 editionsThese translations render verse 31:29 — the whole verse this word appears in — not this word alone. And that God is Cognizant of everything you doHast thou not seen how Allah causeth the night to pass into the day and causeth the day to pass into the night, and hath subdued the sun and the moon (to do their work), each running unto an appointed term; and that Allah is Informed of what ye doSeest thou not that God causeth the night to come in upon the day, and the day to come in upon the night? and that he hath subjected the sun and the moon to laws by which each speedeth along to an appointed goal? and that God therefore is acquainted with that which ye doDost thou not see that God joins on the night to the day, and joins on the day to the night, and has subjected the sun and the moon, - each of them runs on unto an appointed time? and that God of what ye do is well awaredid not you see that Allah he makes enter the night in the daytime and he makes enter the daytime in the night and he made subservient the sun and the moon every he flows to term of named and that Allah with what you do awareGenerated from a table of word-by-word decisions, not written as prose. Arabic word order is preserved, so it reads stiffly and is not a substitute for a translation written by a person. Every verse is rendered, but the whole remains under review: words marked as judgement rest on weaker evidence than the rest and are flagged in place. No tafsir, hadith or existing translation was consulted.
