Quranic text · Tanzil Uthmani 1.1How translators rendered it
Translation · 5 editionsThese translations render verse 8:59 — the whole verse this word appears in — not this word alone. The correspondence is verse-level: no word-level alignment of translations exists for these editions, so we do not claim which English word renders this Arabic word. Compare the editions →
Let not the disbelievers assume that they are ahead. They will not escapeAnd let not those who disbelieve suppose that they can outstrip (Allah's Purpose). Lo! they cannot escapeAnd think not that the infidels shall escape Us! They shall not weaken GodDeem not that those who misbelieve can win; verily, they cannot make (God) powerlessand not he reckons those whom they rejected they preceded indeed they not they escapeGenerated from a table of word-by-word decisions, not written as prose. Arabic word order is preserved, so it reads stiffly and is not a substitute for a translation written by a person. Every verse is rendered, but the whole remains under review: words marked as judgement rest on weaker evidence than the rest and are flagged in place. No tafsir, hadith or existing translation was consulted.
