They said, “Call upon your Lord to show us which one; the heifers look alike to us; and God willing, we will be guided.”They said: Pray for us unto thy Lord that He make clear to us what (cow) she is. Lo! cows are much alike to us; and Lo! if Allah wills, we may be led arightThey said, "Call on they Lord for us that He would make plain to us what cow it is - for to us are cows alike, - and verily, if God please, we shall be guided rightlyAgain they said, 'Pray thy Lord to show us what she is to be; for cows appear the same to us; then we, if God will, shall be guidedthey said call for us your Sustainer he makes clear for us what she indeed the cattle he looked alike upon us and indeed we if he willed Allah one who is guidedsGenerated from a table of word-by-word decisions, not written as prose. Arabic word order is preserved, so it reads stiffly and is not a substitute for a translation written by a person. Every verse is rendered, but the whole remains under review: words marked as judgement rest on weaker evidence than the rest and are flagged in place. No tafsir, hadith or existing translation was consulted.
