Quranic text · Tanzil Uthmani 1.1How translators rendered it
Translation · 5 editionsThese translations render verse 2:245 — the whole verse this word appears in — not this word alone. The correspondence is verse-level: no word-level alignment of translations exists for these editions, so we do not claim which English word renders this Arabic word. Compare the editions →
Who is he who will offer God a generous loan, so He will multiply it for him manifold? God receives and amplifies, and to Him you will be returnedWho is it that will lend unto Allah a goodly loan, so that He may give it increase manifold? Allah straiteneth and enlargeth. Unto Him ye will returnWho is he that will lend to God a goodly loan? He will double it to him again and again: God is close, but open handed also: and to Him shall ye returnWho is there that will lend to God a good loan? He will redouble it many a double; God closes His hand and holds it out, and unto Him shall ye returnwho this who he lends Allah a loan good he multiplies for him a multiples many Allah he withholds and he extends and to him are returnedGenerated from a table of word-by-word decisions, not written as prose. Arabic word order is preserved, so it reads stiffly and is not a substitute for a translation written by a person. Every verse is rendered, but the whole remains under review: words marked as judgement rest on weaker evidence than the rest and are flagged in place. No tafsir, hadith or existing translation was consulted.
