Translation · 5 editionsThese translations render verse 14:42 — the whole verse this word appears in — not this word alone. Do not ever think that God is unaware of what the wrongdoers do. He only defers them until a Day when the sights stareDeem not that Allah is unaware of what the wicked do. He but giveth them a respite till a day when eyes will stare (in terror)Think thou not that God is regardless of the deeds of the wicked. He only respiteth them to the day on which all eyes shall stare up with terrorSo think not God careless of what the unjust do; He only respites them until the day on which all eyes shall stareand not you reckon Allah unaware about what he does the wrongdoers only he defers them for Day he stares fixedly in it the sightsGenerated from a table of word-by-word decisions, not written as prose. Arabic word order is preserved, so it reads stiffly and is not a substitute for a translation written by a person. Every verse is rendered, but the whole remains under review: words marked as judgement rest on weaker evidence than the rest and are flagged in place. No tafsir, hadith or existing translation was consulted.
